The short version

The fonts are free. Use them for anything. They come as they are, with no promises, so use them at your own risk.

The font licence

Unless a family page says otherwise, each designer gives everyone a free, worldwide, permanent permission to use, copy, change, convert, embed, share and sell the fonts and anything made with them, for personal or commercial work. That covers print, web, apps, games, video, logos, products and client work. There's no fee and no need to ask.

Credit isn't required. We do this for the love of it (and a little clout), so a mention of the designer or Utypeia is always appreciated.

Each typeface is still the work of the designer named on its page. Please don't present someone else's typeface as your own.

Different terms for some families

A designer can choose other terms for their own family. Those terms appear in the Usage terms box on the family page and in its download, and they apply to that family instead of this licence.

Use at your own risk

The fonts, zines and everything else on this site are provided “as is,” without any warranty, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some families are experiments or alphabet studies with limited character sets, spacing or features. Test them before you rely on them.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the designers and Utypeia are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the fonts or the site, however it happens. If something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid: nothing.

Zines, artwork and the Utypeia name

Read, print and share the zines freely. Please don't use the Utypeia name or logo in a way that suggests we made or endorse your work.

Privacy

There are no accounts, cookies, analytics or mailing lists. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and reliability.

Problems and takedowns

If you think something here copies your work, or you've found a problem, email drelabre@gmail.com and we'll look into it.

Changes

We may update these terms, and we'll change the date above when we do. Whatever licence applied when you downloaded a font still covers that download.
